The largest chateau in the Loire Valley with 426 rooms and 282 fireplaces. Francis I built it as a hunting lodge. The double-helix staircase may have been designed by Leonardo da Vinci. Francis I spent only 42 days here. The rooftop has 800 sculptured capitals.
